My experience with the Carlson School PhD program in operations management has been great. Faculty are not only world-renowned researchers but also open-minded and friendly. I cannot say enough about how much the guidance and support from my advisors and other faculty members has helped me through the journey of pursuing my PhD.
The flexible curriculum allows PhD students to explore a wide range of theory and methods for their research. Because of the diverse research expertise among the faculty, it is a relatively smooth process to find the faculty with whom to work.
Research support is excellent: various research fellowships, convenient access to research databases and academic journals, one-on-one mentoring in teaching skill development, and world-class faculty in related disciplines. All the elements are in place, and one just needs to take the advantage of them.
Although cold, the adjustment to Minnesota winter was a lot easier than I expected. The high quality of life, the convenient access to the thriving business communities, and the great summer far outweigh any downside.
