The Carlson Executive MBA is built on a foundation of time-tested business principles. By emphasizing a global perspective, the intense curriculum helps you develop a deeper understanding of theory and practice.
Each class moves through the program together as a cohort, following set schedules. From orientation to graduation, it takes about 21 months to complete the program. Classes are held Fridays and Saturdays, predominately on alternate weekends, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and do not meet during the summer.
At orientation, you'll get to pick up your course materials for the semester, take your official student photo, and get all of the important information you need to start the year off. You'll also, finally, meet all of your classmates in person! The evening culminates in a networking happy hour with your new cohort and the second year cohort of students, with a few alumni in the mix, as well.
We know that going back to school after a hiatus is challenging - whether it has been 6 years or 25 years. In an effort to bring everyone up to speed before classes begin, we hold pre-program workshops in accounting, statistics, executive communications, and case analysis before you begin your classes.
Held at the start of both years of the program, Immersion Week is an intense 4-day, live-in experience that provides valuable tools to help you work in diverse study teams. During the first year immersion week, you'll focus on team processes as you adjust to being back in school and complete a statistics boot camp. During the second immersion week, you'll reconnect with classmates, get to know new first-year students, and dive back into academics.
