NORMAN CHERVANY is Professor, Information and Decision Sciences at Carlson School of Management, University of Minnesota. He holds a BS degree in Mathematics, Mount Union College, and an MBA and DBA, Indiana University. He has published widely in Management Science, Decision Sciences, MIS Quarterly, and The American Statistician. Chervany consults with a large number of profit, non-profit, and governmental organizations.
RICHARD HALLSTEIN is managing partner of Consulting Partners, a management consulting consortium based in Maine. He has also author of Memoirs of a Recovering Autocrat and Managing Change: A Leader’s Handbook for Implementing Strategy. His unique business perspective is based on 23 years of experience in the banking and retail industries where he was a senior executive in line management, strategic planning, and human resources. His training in business, education, and organization development is reflected in an unusually broad perspective on subjects primarily associated with strategic planning, creating high performance organizations, and managing organizational change.
DAN HALVORSEN is a physiologist and nutritionist and an adjunct assistant professor at the University of Minnesota Medical School, Department of Physiology and Sports Medicine. He is also Medical Director of the Kohl's Power Cubed Exercise Medicine Clinic at Children's Hospitals, and the President and CEO of Lifestyle Design Inc. Halvorsen specializes in human performance, working with executives, corporations, professional athletes and teams, and University of Minnesota athletes and teams. He has consulted in designing fitness centers for numerous organizations. Halvorsen holds a PhD and MS from the University of Minnesota.
ROBERT HANSEN is a faculty member of the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Management. Prior to joining the marketing faculty he was a member of the marketing department at Ohio State University. His industry experience includes working for Oscar Mayer, NCR Corporation, Business Incentives, and Grant Thornton, International. He has published a number of articles and research monographs on topics related to marketing research, consumer behavior and business planning. Hansen has a BS in agricultural sciences and business, an MBA in marketing and quantitative methods and a PhD in marketing, statistics and quantitative methods from the University of Wisconsin.
ARTHUR V. HILL is the John and Nancy Lindahl Professor for Excellence in Business Education in the Operations and Management Science Department of the Carlson School of Management, University of Minnesota. He founded the Carlson Consulting Enterprise, a unique consultancy that provides high quality consulting services to clients to develop MBA leadership and analytical skills. Hill has been awarded numerous teaching awards at the Carlson School and was recognized as an outstanding instructor in several national publications including Business Week. Hill has provided operations management consulting, developed decision support software, and/or given speeches for many manufacturing, distribution, banking, service, and government organizations worldwide. He earned a BA in Mathematics from Indiana University, an MS in Industrial Administration and a PhD in Management from the Krannert School of Management at Purdue University.
LEO HOPF, founder and CEO of Teamhopf, specializes in working with senior executive teams to bring clarity and alignment to their most pressing strategic issues. Hopf teaches “Decision Making in Organizations” at Stanford University and at the Carlson School of Management, where he has been named a Fellow of Executive Education. Hopf was formerly Managing Director of Strategic Decisions Group (SDG), a 70-person strategy consulting firm. He has substantial international experience, and has led major consulting engagements in Indonesia, Singapore, New Zealand, Australia, Canada, and Kuwait. Hopf earned an MBA degree with highest distinction from the Amos Tuck School of Business, Dartmouth College, and has BS degrees in Chemical Engineering and Metallurgical Engineering from the University of Minnesota.
EDWARD JOYCE is Professor of Accounting at the Carlson School of Management, University of Minnesota. Previously, he spent five years on the faculty of the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business. Joyce also has lectured at the University of Illinois, the University of Michigan, the University of Glasgow, Scotland, and the Warsaw School of Economics. He received a BSBA from Ohio State University and an MAS and PhD in accounting from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign.
PETER KREMBS is Manager of Peter Krembs, LLC. Previously he was Managing Partner of Consulting Partners. He has over 30 years experience as a leadership development consultant to major U.S. and international corporations. Krembs also consults on organization development issues for companies experiencing rapid growth, and has designed and facilitated executive team and large group strategic planning work. He is co-author of On-The-Level, Performance Communication that Works, and has written on how to set performance expectations, give and receive feedback, and facilitate discussions about learning and development on the job. His graduate work is in Industrial Psychology from the University of Minnesota and his post-graduate certification is from the Gestalt Institute of Cleveland, Organization and Systems Development Program.
HARVEY A. ROBBINS is President of Robbins & Robbins and is a Carlson Executive Education, University of Minnesota Fellow. He is a practicing business psychologist with broad experience in the areas of team development, change management, collaboration, organization and leadership effectiveness, and interpersonal influence. Robbins has provided international consulting services to numerous corporations and federal and state agencies and regularly presents at national/international conferences. He is author/co-author of seven books on the subject of leadership effectiveness and team development. Robbins received his doctorate in clinical/educational psychology from Texas A&M.
STEPHEN SEBASTIAN is a client partner with LeaderSource, A Korn/Ferry Company. As an executive coach, he focuses on interpersonal mastery, career mastery, and team effectiveness. He has worked extensively with individuals and companies who are committed to building and retaining the leadership strength of their organizations. Prior to joining LeaderSource, Sebastian was a principal learning consultant for one of the largest global insurance and financial services companies. He also founded and directed an independent coaching, consulting, and leadership development company. Sebastian holds an MBA from the Carlson School Management, University of Minnesota, and a BS in accounting from Roosevelt University.
JASON D. SHAW is an associate professor at the Carlson School of Management, University of Minnesota with specialties in Organizational Behavior and Human Resources Management. His research and teaching interests include individual and organizational consequences of compensation decisions, voluntary and involuntary turnover, human capital development, and person-environment congruence issues. His research has appeared in publications such as the Academy of Management Journal, Journal of Applied Psychology, Academy of Management Review, Personnel Psychology, Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes, Strategic Management Journal, Industrial Relations, Journal of Management, and Harvard Business Review. He currently serves on the editorial review boards of Personnel Psychology, Journal of Organizational Behavior, Journal of Management, and the Journal of Managerial Issues.
MANI SUBRAMANI an associate professor in the Information and Decision Sciences Department of the Carlson School of Management. His research focuses on understanding issues related to the role of information technologies in the creation and exploitation of intangible, knowledge-based capabilities. He is also a research associate with the Center for Information Systems Research (CISR) at MIT. He has published numerous journal articles, teaching cases, book chapters, and publications in national and international conferences. Subramani holds a DBA from Boston University and a BE from the Biarla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, India.
AMY TOLBERT develops multicultural organizations and individuals through cutting-edge topics, such as multicultural and diversity initiatives, leadership competency development, managing to style, and creating breakthrough teams. She is a principal of Effecting Creative Change in Organizations (ECCO International). Tolbert has authored a book, Reversing the Ostrich Approach to Diversity: Pulling your head out of the sand, a timely answer to the renewed urgency for actionable diversity information. She has also co-authored and presented the “Discovering Diversity Profile,” a popular self-assessment tool. Tolbert is a Carlson Executive Education Fellow at the Carlson School of Management, and earned her PhD in Human Resource Development from the University of Minnesota.
JOSEPH VOLKER is a Psychologist and Senior Consultant, Head of Coaching Services with MDA Consulting Group, Inc. He has worked in a wide variety of organizational settings including the healthcare industry, manufacturing, energy, financial institutions, education, biotechnology, agribusiness, government, and non-profit organizations. Prior to joining MDA, Volker served as an assistant professor in the Department of Counseling at the University of North Dakota (UND) and director of the MA program in counseling. Volker received his BA in Social Ecology in 1976 from the University of California, Irvine, and completed his MA and PhD from the University of Minnesota in Educational Psychology.
MARY ZELLMER-BRUHN is Associate Professor of Strategic Management & Organization at the Carlson School of Management, University of Minnesota. She has received the Carlson School’s Excellence in Teaching and Outstanding Honors Faculty teaching awards. Zellmer-Bruhn’s research interests include teamwork, the formation and effectiveness of entrepreneurial teams, knowledge management and team routines, cross-cultural teamwork, and temporal issues in teams and organizations. Her research is published in Administrative Science Quarterly, Academy of Management Journal, Management Science, Group and Organization Management, Entrepreneurship Theory & Practice, Management International Review, Journal of Managerial Issues, and the Journal of Managerial Psychology ; she serves on the editorial board of Organization Science. Zellmer-Bruhn received a Bachelor’s degree in marketing, a Master’s degree in management and a PhD in organizational behavior from the University of Wisconsin.
