Protocol for Breakout Room Usage:

The Carlson School of Management Breakout Rooms are located on the lower level, first and second floors of the Carlson School building.  Only Carlson School faculty and registered students in Carlson School programs may reserve them for meetings, study, or small group activities. Breakout Rooms are not equipped with active land line phone jacks for conference call purposes.

  • The rooms can be reserved from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., with the exception of the first floor breakout rooms, which can be reserved after 10 p.m. (If crossing over 12 a.m., two separate reservations are required)
  • It is your responsibility to print out the reservation confirmation and have it in your possession when using the room.
  • A master listing of all reservations is printed daily and provided to the Security Monitor. If conflicts occur, the Security Monitor has the authority relocate/vacate users if confirmation does not match the master list.
  • Carlson School faculty, staff, and students are expected to act professionally in our building. When a situation demands that you ask another group to vacate a room you have reserved, please do so in a respectful manner.
  • Students are encouraged to keep high standards and are expected to leave each room in clean condition, picking up trash and cleaning the whiteboard after use.
  • The custodian or security monitor has the authority to ask you to vacate the breakout rooms at 10 p.m. on the lower level and second floor, in order to to provide maintenance and secure the rooms.
  • For safety reasons, policy or University security officers patrol these rooms on an unscheduled basis.

The breakout room reservation process will be monitored to assure that the rooms are being used for their intended purpose and that individuals are respectful of the need to allow others access to the rooms.

Other Resources:

When the number of student groups seeking use of a breakout room exceeds the number of rooms available, there are other resources on-campus for students, including Wilson Library and Hubert H. Humphrey Public Affairs building. Students are encouraged to investigate these resources if no rooms are available at Carlson School.
