President and Chief Executive Officer, Mayo Foundation
Michael B. Wood, MD, President and Chief Executive Officer, Mayo Foundation, previously served as vice-chair of the Board of Governors and director of the Mayo Regional Health System, Rochester, MN. He also is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in surgery of the hand, reconstructive microsurgery and peripheral nerve reconstruction. He is a Professor of Orthopedics, Mayo Medical School.
Dr. Wood has served many professional groups, including the American Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery, member since 1988, and as president, 1990-91. He belongs to the American Medical Association and the Minnesota Medical Association. He is on the Board of the Institute for Healthcare Improvement and the Healthcare Leadership Council and is a member of the Society of Medical Administrators. In 2000 he served as president of the Board of the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award Foundation and is a past member of the Coalition for Nonprofit Health Care.
Dr. Wood is a graduate of McGill University and completed his residency at the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine. He also completed fellowships in microvascular surgery and hand surgery at the University of Louisville (KY). Dr. Wood is married with four children. |
