For fall semester 2008 admission, application to the Graduate School should be completed by April 30, 2008.

Transcripts

Official transcripts from each college or university you attended should be requested from the Office of the Registrar at each school and mailed directly by the Registrar to the Graduate School Admissions Office.

If you attended U.S. schools, most often official transcripts are those that have the embossed seal of the institution and/or the registrar's signature on them. However, you should consult the school you attended to find out what constitutes an official transcript from that school. If you attended international schools, please follow the instructions about submitting transcripts when applying for admission to the Graduate School.

You may mail a photocopy or fax a legible copy of your transcript/credentials to the Graduate School Admissions Office. This will make the processing of your materials more efficient and will get your application to your MAcc program for review more quickly. If you do fax or send a photocopy, do not send official transcipts/credentials at this time.  If you are admitted, the Graduate School will request that official or certified transcripts/credentials be provided when they send you the admission letter.

Transcripts/credentials can be faxed to 612-625-6002 or mailed to:

GMAT

The Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT) is required when applying to the MAcc program.  Request that your GMAT results be sent to the Carlson School MAcc program.  The applicant's copy of the GMAT score will not be accepted.  The MAcc GMAT code is D2N-VJ-8826.  Requesting by code will only be necessary if you make a request by mail after testing.  Otherwise, you may elect to send your scores electronically without using a code.

For details on how to make an appointment to take the GMAT or to request submission of your GMAT scores to the MAcc office, visit the website:  www.gmat.org.  The University of Minnesota's College of Continuing Education (CCE) offers GMAT preparation courses through classroom-based instruction or self-directed online instruction.  For more information, call (612) 624-4000 or visit the website http://www.cce.umn.edu/testprep/.

The GMAT must have been taken within three years of the application.  The Graduate Record Exam (GRE) is not an acceptable alternative to the GMAT.

Lettersof recommendation

Three letters of recommendation from persons qualified to evaluate your most recent work and potential for graduate study are required.

Letters of recommendation should be submitted online by your recommenders through ApplyYourself.

Beginning with Fall 2007, we will no longer be accepting recommendation letters mailed or faxed to our office.

Interviews

Qualified applicants will be contacted by the MAcc Program office to schedule an in-person interview with the Program Director upon receipt of your Graduate School Application for Admission, an official transcript, three letters of recommendation, and an official GMAT score.  If you are a non-Twin Cities residing applicant, a telephone interview is acceptable.

Admissiondecision

Both the Graduate School and the MAcc Program Director review applications. A student’s academic record, letters of recommendation and the interview with the Program Director are factors in the admission decision. After making a decision on an application, the Graduate School notifies the applicant. The entire review process takes about four to six weeks.
