Labor Education Service

The Labor Education Service (LES) is an outreach program of the University of Minnesota’s Center for Human Resources and Labor Studies. It was created to provide training, applied research services and technical assistance to Minnesota workers and their organizations. LES offers a variety of non-credit courses and seminars at both campus and off-campus locations, scheduled and customized to meet the needs of your organization. LES staff travel across the state and region to provide training, video production, research and other services, at dates, times and locations that are convenient for your union and its members. We are currently working on classes in other languages to meet your non-English speaking membership needs.

Staff & Courses

LES offers customized non-credit courses and seminars on subjects such as collective bargaining, steward training, occupational safety and health, labor law, labor economics, labor and politics, parliamentary procedure, and union administration. Staff also travel throughout the region to provide conferences, workshops, and training for unions in contract negotiations, arbitration, organization, and more.
