Objective:

This program offers students the opportunity to study a variety of international business topics in a dynamic multicultural environment at Copenhagen Business School (CBS). Classes are taught by US and European faculty and provide the opportunity to gain insights into doing business in a global environment and to better understand the Scandinavian perspective on business.

 Carlson School Undergraduate students; classes will be a mix of international students from business schools in Denmark, Europe, and the US

Credit:

8 elective credits. Students select 2 classes from an array of options offered by CBS. Students seeking major credit must get pre-approval from the Undergraduate Program’s Office. Grading is S-N basis.   To review the course offerings please visit the CBS website.

Location:

As the capital of Denmark, and the most populous city in Scandanavia, Copenhagen is uniquely situated as home to global leaders in pharmaceuticals, productions, and information technology and communication. Copenhagen is a charming city that evenly balances its place as a European economic center with its historic cobblestone past.

Copenhagen Business School (CBS) is the second largest business school in all of Europe and has intimate ties with the local and international business community. Students from across the globe come to CBS for the International Summer Program to take advantage of the unique opportunity to study and live in an intercultural setting.

Schedule:

The program starts with a mandatory orientation and city tour the first weekend. Students then take two classes over the next six weeks. Weekends are free for travel and sightseeing, or getting to know Copenhagen. CBS organizes a variety of social activities in Copenhagen and tours around Denmark and of neighboring countries. Some activities are free and others are available for a fee.

Housing and Food:

Students live in dormitory style residence halls with Danish, US, and international students on the program. All accommodations include a kitchen.  Housing is available on a first served basis so early application is encouraged. Students have full access to CBS facilities including computer labs and libraries.  To view housing options please visit the CBS website.

Costs and Financial Aid:

Participants pay a $3,600 program fee directly to the University of Minnesota. This fee covers tuition for eight credits, international health insurance, and fees. Students are responsible for purchasing their own course textbooks. Airfare, meals, housing, and personal expenses are not covered by the course fee. Students should budget approximately $1,500 - $2,000 for room, board, and miscellaneous living expense. Fees are based on estimates and may change due to international economic factors. Application and Admission:

Download an application from the Applications page and submit a completed application with a $50 application fee, transcript, resume and essay. Applications are reviewed on a rolling admissions basis from January 2 - January 30, 2009. The program may fill before the deadline.

This program is open to Carlson students in good academic standing, with a GPA of 3.0 at the time of application. The application process is competitive, and space is limited.  Meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee acceptance.
