Marketing Department On the Market PhD Students

Christine M. Bennett, a recent PhD alum, is an AMA Valuing Diversity scholar specializing in information processing, social comparison, and hedonic consumption. Bennett has accepted a position as an Assistant Professor at the Opus College of Business at the University of St. Thomas.

William Hedgcock

William Hedgcock, a recent PhD alum, is a U of M Doctoral Dissertation Fellow and received an NSF doctoral dissertation grant for his fMRI research on consumer behavior. Hedgcock has accepted a position as an Assistant Professor at the Tippie School of Management at the University of Iowa.

The Buyer's Brain

Ph.D. alum Bill Hedgcock is honored to have received a 2007-08 U of M Doctoral Dissertation Fellowship for his dissertation research titled, "Essays on the Neural Basis of Consumer Choice."  Hedgcock is the only Carlson School Ph.D. student to have earned this singular honor this year.  Additionally, the National Science Foundation has awarded Hedgcock a prestigious grant toward his dissertation's fMRI research.

AMA Valuing Diversity Scholarship

Doctoral alum Christine M. Bennett received the American Marketing Association's Valuing Diversity scholarship for the 2006-2007 academic year.  This competitive scholarship involves a monetary prize which helped Bennett with her dissertation research (chaired by Professor Barbara Loken), "A Theoretical Approach to Understanding the Impact of Accented Speech on Marketers' Efforts to Inform, Persuade, and Assist Consumers."
