MILI is proud to announce an exciting opportunity for MBA students to participate in the first annual Carl N. Platou Leadership Competition. Mr. Platou, a visionary healthcare executive was recently inducted into the 2009 Minnesota Business Hall of fame (see http://www.tcbmag.com/halloffame/minnesotabusinesshalloffame/117070p1.aspx) . This competition, created in his honor, was established to recognize the leadership skills and innovative thinking of an elite group of students who plan to complement their MBA education with a medical industry specialization.
Evoking Mr. Platou’s inspirational vision and leadership in the medical industry, the competition rewards three MBA students who, in a submitted leadership statement, illustrate a high value exposition of their experiential learning or real world, firm-based project. Leadership statements detail the student’s contributions and accomplishments, as well as insights gained for application in the medical industry.
An external review committee will determine the award winners and present $2,000 for first place; $1,000 for second place; and $500 for third place. Awards will be presented at a luncheon to be held later this fall.
Applications will be due by Friday, October 23rd. Please contact Jessica Haupt jahaupt@umn.edu with any questions.
