Graduationprocess

If you're planning to complete the MBT program within the next two semesters, please start the graduation process now. MBT students can graduate during any month of the year.
 

  1. Unofficial transcript »
    Request an unofficial copy of your University of Minnesota graduate transcript, and examine it for errors or omissions. Send a copy of the transcript to the MBT office (by email, fax, or mail), indicating when you plan to take any remaining courses. After we receive your transcript, the graduation process will take 3 - 4 months.

  2. Degree program
    After receiving your transcript, we file your official degree program with the Graduate School.  Approval usually takes 4 - 6 weeks.

     


     
  3. Application for degree
    You'll receive an application for degree form a month before you intend to graduate. Complete the form and return it to the MBT office before the end of the month prior to the one in which you intend to graduate.

     


     
  4. Plan B papers
    Early in the month you graduate, send the MBT office copies of your graded papers from the following courses (unless you were waived from taking a course). A faculty committee will review your papers and sign the examination report for your Plan B project.

    MBT 5500: Business, Government & Economic Tax Policy
    MBT 5200: Taxation of Methods and Periods


     
  5. Commencement ceremony
    The Carlson School holds a commencement ceremony each May. If you did not participate last May, you can take part this year. You will receive detailed information about commencement in March or early April. Official invitations are sent mid-March.

     


     
  6. Diploma
    You will receive your diploma 4 - 6 weeks after your graduation date.
