TechnologyTools and Tips

There are many technology tools available to enhance teaching and learning.

Course Guide Tools for One Stop - Faculty can enter information such as an example syllabus, learning activities, instructor biography, and video example of a learning session.

Student Response Systems (Clickers) - Faculty can use presentation software to poll students using  handheld devices.  When the poll is closed, the results can display within the presentation software.  Responses can be anonymous or associated with the individual student.

Deeplinks to Library Materials - Create deeplinks to UMN library materials for off-campus availability.

Learning Styles Inventory - We have a Learning Styles Inventory web site that delivers the inventory, produces a report for the respondent, and stores the preferences so that they can be reported to faculty as a part of  the student profile.

RefWorks - RefWorks is a web-based citation manager provided by the University of Minnesota Libraries.

SafeAssign Plagerism Avoidance - SafeAssign is a tool inside WebVista to assist in plagiarism avoidance.

Virtual Office Hours - Instructors can conduct virtual office hours, instead of traditional office hours at a physical location.  The University has several tools that may assist with this flexible option.
