Business Languages

CIBER provides scholarships for full-time undergraduate students taking business language courses, offers workshops on business language and culture, and supports language instructors in French, German, Portuguese and Spanish with curriculum development.

CIBER Business Language Scholarship for Undergraduates

We provide $500 scholarships to full-time undergraduate students at the U of M for foreign language study for business purposes. Check out undergraduate business language course offerings on OneStop and apply today. Preference is given to:

  • Students taking Business French, German, Portuguese or Spanish courses on campus (for example SPAN 1014 or 3022; FREN 3022; GER 3021; PORT 3002)
  • Business majors or minors taking any level of Chinese, Portuguese, Korean or Arabic

Chinese 101: A Practical Guide for Traveling Professionals

Interested in learning Chinese language and culture? Traveling to China? This class was developed especially for you! Chinese 101 is a customized, non-credit Mandarin Chinese class designed specifically for University of Minnesota students, faculty and staff.

The course meets on Wednesdays from March 26 - April 30, 2014 from 4:00-5:30 pm in Carlson School of Management, Room 1-142. The fee is $200 plus credit card processing fees.

Chinese Culture and Language for Business and Education Abroad

CIBER, the Confucius Institute, and the China Center at the University of Minnesota offer half-day cross-cultural training sessions focused on communications in business settings, negotiating, hosting guests and networking.
