Marketing your products outside the U.S. represents both great opportunity and significant challenges. Whether this was a new initiative for your company or you were looking to invigorate your existing international marketing strategy, this session helped you understand marketing dynamics around the world. It included a short real-life case by speaker John Murray, a lecturer at the Carlson School of Management and founder of a global medical diagnostics company. Presented in partnership with Enterprise Minnesota, the Manufacturing Extension Partnership, and the Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation.

Globalization: Shifts in International Business, July 25-29, 2011
A summer professional development seminar for K-16 educators. Dr. Sid Benraouane presented the culture, economics, politics and corporate strategies of doing business overseas. Teachers integrated international business components into their curriculum and built a teaching portfolio that sets students on a path to becoming globally-minded business professionals.

The Global Impact of Food Protection and Defense, June 10, 2011
Food impacts each of our lives every day. Protecting and defending our food system is essential to reducing the potential for contamination and mitigating catastrophic public health and economic effects of attack on the food system. CIBER and the National Center for Food Protection and Defense (NCFPD) offered a seminar addressing the global impact of food protection and defense. This seminar provided information, tools, and expert opinion. The Food Safety Modernization Act, the first major overhaul in food laws in 70 years, was also discussed.

Junior Achievement Impact Day at Adams Spanish Immersion School, June 7, 2011
¿Hablas español? CIBER recruited volunteers for a day at Adams Spanish Immersion School. Volunteers educated K-6 students about business, work readiness, and financial literacy.

2011 CIBER Short Term Study Abroad Conference, June 2-3, 2011
The CIBER Short Term Study Abroad (STSA) Conference encouraged and educated institutions of higher education in the programmatic, logistical, evaluation and execution of short term study abroad programs. It is an annual conference organized on a rotating basis by one of the members of the CIBER STSA consortium and conducted at the site of the annual NAFSA International conference each year.

Minnesota Water Technology Export Roundtable: Grant funding for market development, May 25, 2011
Participants learned how federal grant funding can help Minnesota water companies with export development in key markets in India, the Middle East, and North Africa. The Minnesota Trade Office and CIBER welcomed World Trade Center San Diego Executive Vice President Hugh Constant to Minnesota to discuss this exciting opportunity.

Doing Business with France, May 12, 2011
The Minnesota International Center (MIC) collaborated with the French American Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Minneapolis/St. Paul to present a special half-day business symposium on Doing Business with France. This symposium brought together French policymakers with prominent Minnesota business leaders and international business experts for an in-depth exploration of the French business climate within the current sociopolitical and economic context, with an emphasis on increasing reciprocal investment between France and Minnesota.

CIBER welcomed Mr. Donald Tong Chi-keung, Hong Kong Commissioner for Economic and Trade Affairs, USA to the Carlson School! Presentation for students from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in room 2-213 followed by a reception in room 2-210 catered by the Tea House.

District Export Council Leadership Forum, April 11-12, 2011
The 2011 National District Export Council Leadership Forum included: a plenary session to discuss national policy positions and a planning session to discuss future conference dates, locations and planning responsibilities. Additional sessions focused on DEC Best Practices in the following areas: Legislative/Congressional Outreach; Incorporation, Bylaws and Fundraising; Export University, the DEC 100 Mentoring Program. We also discussed how to implement DEC strategies and what resources are available to DEC leaders. The 2011 DEC Leadership Forum was sponsored by all 33 Centers for International Business Education and Research.
