Location: Lyon, France
Dates: June 25 - July 6, 2012
Term: Summer Session
Objective: This program offers an in-depth look at business development in Europe and how companies have successfully established themselves in the European market.
This program is open to Carlson graduate students in good academic standing, with a minimum GPA of 3.0 at the time of application. Meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee acceptance.
L'Universite Jean Moulin 3 (IAE) is the largest business school in France, and provides regular programming for international students.
Lyon is one of France's largest cities at over 1.5 million people and is a well known hub of business, commerce, and media in addition to being a beautiful and historic city. After Julius Caesar invaded and conquered Gaul (modern day France) more than 2,000 years ago, he set up his capital in Lyon. As the world's silk capital, Lyon is a European fashion center and home to a large silk and textile industry.
Students from a variety of management schools take classes Monday–Friday during the 2 weeks in European Strategic Development, Cross-Cultural Management, European Marketing, and Specifics of European Corporate Cultures. Business site visits to international and Lyon-based companies provide direct insight into their development strategies. A cultural excursion and a dinner with a French family will complement the academic program, along with other group activities.
Students will share a room with one or two classmates of their same gender at a European-style hotel in the city. Because networking and community-building are key parts of the program, students will not have the option of a single room. Guests are not permitted during the program. Continental breakfast is provided at the hotel.
The program fee is $1,500. This fee covers program administration, international health insurance, and course materials. Airfare, housing, meals, personal travel and expenses are not covered by the program fee.
The 4 academic credits for this program will be charged at the per-credit rate of the program in which you are enrolled in at the University of Minnesota Carlson School of Management. Please see One Stop for more information about tuition and fees.
Fees are based on estimates and may change due to international economic factors.
To apply, please visit the Apply page. Students will be charged a $50 application fee.
The application priority deadline is February 1, 2012 (rolling admission).
Once students submit an application, they will be informed of their status within 4 weeks of the application deadline.
All details subject to change based on economic and international factors.
