In this session, we will explore negotiation skills. Of particular interest to us is the broader discussion of the concept of cultural capital as it relates to success and failure in cross-cultural negotiation. Managers and leaders are faced with a variety of settings, in which they have to develop a process of negotiating with a variety of stakeholders: employees, suppliers, alliance partners, owners and investors, unions, and customers. With some partners, managers engage in a direct deal making discussions; with others, managers engage in a subtle negotiation that requires prior knowledge about the context, the structure of the negotiation table, and the people with whom they negotiation.
Registration is not required. Light appetizers and beverages will be provided.
The Twin Cities Chapter of the National Black MBA Association in collaboration with the University of Minnesota's Carlson School of Management is excited to launch an annual leadership series titled "Leaders Advancing Leaders."
This year long series, offered in four stand alone sessions is taught be expert thought leaders across a variety of topics. The sessions are designed for leaders who wish to hone or gain new tools for their leadership toolbox.
