Today’s organizations expect professionals to participate more actively in their own development. And, as formal education budgets continue to tighten, that means figuring out how to learn more on the job.

But, do you know how to identify the highly developmental assignments/projects/opportunities that will take your career in the right direction? And, when you get one, do you know how to make the most of it? Because we are never taught how to think about learning from our experiences, it is easy to pass up frame-breaking career opportunities, or to miss out on key lessons that could accelerate one’s career.

This course is designed for:

  • Individuals that want to take their career to the next level
  • Managers who are mentoring others or interested in developing others on the job
  • HR and talent development professionals who are charged with stretching their organizations’ learning and development budgets

What you will gain

We start this program from the premise that experience is the best teacher, but that we need the right tools for leveraging that experience. This program will provide you the tools to:

  • Identify powerful developmental experiences that you can learn from
  • Evaluate the developmental potential of any experience, project, assignment, etc.
  • Make better decisions about where to invest your personal development effort
  • Understand the most powerful experiences you have had in your career, what you have learned from them, and how you can expand upon that learning
  • Learn simple techniques to help you maximize learning from experience
  • Create an experience-based development plan
