Improve organizational performance. MMI provides excellent development activities that make a difference in a manager's career and his or her ability to contribute to improved organizational performance. Participants learn in an environment where they are exposed to business fundamentals and practical applications of key principles, forming a foundation to develop the strategic knowledge and insights needed to succeed at the next level.
Re-energize with the best and brightest. Participants who share your journey tend to be energetic individuals who come from a broad cross-section of organizations. You will learn cutting-edge material from both the faculty and each other. Through robust discussion with other high-potential managers from leading organizations, you will understand best practices and share a passion for knowing the art, science, and business of management.
Benefit from Carlson expertise. All of the MMI faculty are seasoned executive professors, thought-leaders, coaches—people who "walk the talk" and can provide useful insights as well as content knowledge. Some of the faculty teach in the MBA program at the Carlson School; others are corporate leaders with a national reputation; others have proven successes in business applications; and still others are wise protagonists of the business enterprise.
Gain confidence in your knowledge. You will become more certain in your understanding of the business enterprise and in your ability to problem solve. The MMI program explains content and context to unravel the mysteries of management. Your knowledge, experience, and insights—as well as those of the others in the program—will be vital to creating a group setting filled with respect and confidence.
Strengthen your business competencies. Completion of the Minnesota Management Institute leaves you with increased confidence that you have mastered the topics in a broad basic business education and can successfully accelerate your career. You will:
The program pays for itself. You and your company will see an immediate payback. Even before your third week is completed, you'll have valuable tools and skills to bring to your company and implement. You'll find you have a much clearer understanding of how business operates and the ability to make decisions in that overall context. That knowledge will enable you to make the right strategic or operational decisions and provide you with distinct career advantages inside your organization.
This program is designed for high-potential managers who seek a solid business education and an experience that will dramatically accelerate their development. Participants hold titles such as: Director, Functional Area Manager, Product Manager, Project Manager, or Controller.
To enhance the overall learning experience, we seek to admit people to the program with comparable management responsibilities and diverse skills and experiences. The Admission Committee takes into account a candidate's organizational level, management experience, present duties, and career goals. We seek to admit high-potential managers who reflect a broad range of industries, functions, and backgrounds to enrich the networking and learning experience.
Class size is limited to maximize classroom and team participation, so early application is encouraged. Program applications are accepted on a rolling basis and are reviewed upon submission until the program fills.
