John Anderson is a Professor of Operations Management, past Associate Dean of Administration, and past Operations and Management Sciences Department Chair within the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota. He holds a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering, Institute of Technology, University of Minnesota; MBA and Ph.D., School of Management, University of Minnesota.

Professor Anderson's teaching and research interests involve Operations Analysis and Strategy, Quality Management and Process Knowledge Representation. His writings have appeared in a number of academic and professional journals including: Decision Sciences, Management Sciences, International Journal of Production and Operations Management, Journal of Operations Management, Journal of Production and Inventory Control, Academy of Management Review, and Human Systems Management

He is a member and has served in leadership positions of several professional and academic associations including: Decision Sciences Institute of America (as a founding member and President), Juran Center for Quality Leadership (as founding member), American Production Inventory Control Society, American Society for Quality, Institute of Management Sciences, Academy of Management, and the National Consortium for Continuous Improvement in Higher Education (as member of the Board of Directors).

He teaches primarily at the graduate level in the MBA, EMBA, Executive MBA, and Ph.D. Programs at the University of Minnesota. He has taught extensively in Executive Development Programs within the Carlson School of Management.

He has worked as a consultant to a number of business and government organizations in the area of operations management, process leadership and quality management. Most recently he founded the Office of Service and Continuous Improvement, and also actively participated in the Strategic Positioning Initiative at the University of Minnesota.
