In my work at the Carlson School of Management, I serve on the faculty steering committee for the University of Minnesota Center for Integrative Leadership. I co-teach the Integrative Leadership course (MGMT 6402/PA 5105/OLPD 6402/PUBH 6702) along with colleagues from The Carlson School, The Humphrey School, and The School of Public Health. My primary appointment is as associate chair of the Department of Organizational Leadership, Policy, and Development, in the College of Education and Human Development. In my work there, I teach leadership, career-development, and human resource development courses, conduct research on multiple aspects of these related fields, and work on other professional engagement projects. Examples include hosting a symposium on Best Practices in Leadership Development, and working with a cross-sector team to host a workshop for Job Loss Counselors and Related Professionals.
I completed a Ph.D. in human resource development, with supporting work in industrial-organizational psychology. For more than 25 years, I have worked as a consultant for PDI Ninth House, a Korn/Ferry Company, focusing primarily on designing and delivering leadership development interventions for large client organizations across the United States and in a number of countries around the world. PDI Ninth House is a global leadership solutions company with distinctive expertise in accelerating leadership effectiveness to maximize organizational results. I continue my work at PDI Ninth House on a limited basis, designing and deploying leadership development initiatives to support strategic organizational change in educational institutions, non-profit organizations, NGOs, and private sector organizations.
Finally, I continue to lead the faculty team developing and delivering a leadership development program for mid-level leaders (the Successful Managers Leadership Program), which is offered in an open-enrollment format at the University of Minnesota through the College of Continuing Education.
