IF AT forms offer faculty a way of verifying students’ class preparation in a format that is active.
The forms can be used by students individually, but we often recommend having students use the forms in teams. Working in teams promotes interaction and discussion in choosing answer selections where students socially negotiate final answers.
Scenario using Teams
Students, working in teams, answer items in a short quiz. When the team reaches consensus on a response, a student scratches off the response’s covering. If a star appears, the response is correct. Otherwise, the team continues to discuss the question and reach an answer for a second (and perhaps third) answer. Points are commensurate with the number of tries. The quiz results provide a measure of how well the students are prepared.
Correct answers are indicated by the star on the form. Points are awarded based on the number of attempts for each question. For example, if the first scratch results in a star, the item is worth 4 points. If the 2nd scratch results in a star, the item is worth 2 points. If it takes three tries to reach the correct answer, the item is worth 1 point.

IF-AT forms come in a variety of answer patterns. Forms are available with several answer patterns to discourage "gaming" and the form number is removeable at the bottom of the forms. Forms come in 25 or 50 question options and in answer selections of A-D or A-E. Forms could be cut into pieces so an instructor could make five 10-question forms from one 50 question form, etc.

IF AT ®Test Maker Software Program
One of the former difficulties IF AT users described was how to adapt their paper/regular quizzes, tests and other assignments to the various answer patterns of the IF-AT forms. To make things easier IF-AT has created an online “Test Maker” tool that easily adapts tests, quizzes and homework assignments to each of the different versions of the IF-AT answer forms!
The tool is FREE, but registration is required in order to the program.
