Initial email invitations to the participants were sent in Spring of 2014. Official invitation letters are being sent out last week of August 2014 via email and by mail. To participate in the case competition, please register at http://www.carlsonschool.umn.edu/master-human-resources/cihrcom/register. Registration will open on Monday, August 25th, 2014. There will be a $100 nonrefundable registration fee to enter the competition.
Due to several schools having just registered and some still in the process of registering, we are modifying the way that the preliminary round will be run. The written round will run from September 19th through September 26th, and all teams will hear about their results by Monday, September 29th.
On Friday morning CST time, September 19th, all registered teams will be emailed with a packet of information that is pertinent to writing their reports. They will then select 24 hours that they would like to have to work on the case. This 24 hours needs be somewhere between September 19th and September 26th. Once teams have selected their preferred times to work on the case, they will be emailed the case and have 24 hours to create a written report and submit it to email@example.com.
This will provide some flexibility for all schools to register in time, while preserving the consistency across all teams (each team will only have access to the case for 24 hours, but with the new arrangement, each team gets to pick when those 24 hours are within the time frame we set up).
Please note, these dates are subject to change.
The top 6 teams will advance to the final round of the CIHRCom competition that will happen on November 13-15, 2014 at the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The format of the final round is described in great detail under our Rules section. The host school will have their own team at the competition.
The Final Round of the HR Case Competition at the Carlson School of Management will be held Wednesday through Sunday, November 12-16, 2014.
