Dr. Ravi Bapna, academic director of SOBACO (the University's Social Media and Business Analytics Collaborative) and professor of information and decision sciences will present at the next Carlson School of Management "1st Tuesday Speaker Series" on Feb. 4 at 11:30 a.m. at the McNamara Alumni Center.
The presentation, Big Data and Social Media Uncovered, will illuminate sources for and analysis of big data, and examine the monetization of "freemium communities" like social networks, mobile apps, and dating websites.
Bapna directs SOBACO, an interdisciplinary research center that advances the understanding of today's data-rich, socially networked world. He teaches graduate students, executives, CIOs and CMOs how to leverage the digital revolution for competitive advantage. Bapna's professional interests have resulted in research, consulting and executive education engagements with a variety of leading U.S. and Indian companies.
Bapna holds a PhD in business administration, operations, & information management from the University of Connecticut and a BT in computer engineering from the Manipal Institute of Technology, Mangalore University, India.
