GE Continues Support for HR Tomorrow Conference

Thursday, February 07, 2013

The relationship between General Electric (GE) and the MA-HRIR program at the University of Minnesota has been strong with the company sponsoring the HR Tomorrow Conference since 2007. This year is no different as GE will again serve as the event's luncheon sponsor for a seventh year.

"General Electric is proud of its strong and growing relationship with the University of Minnesota," says Greg Cline, '05 MA-HRIR, HRLP UMN Campus Recruiting Leader at GE.

In addition to sponsoring the conference, the company has provided career opportunities for Minnesota graduates for many years.

"The HR Tomorrow Conference is another way that we can provide support and demonstrate our commitment to the students," adds Cline.

GE also sends some of its practitioners to the outstanding speakers and networking opportunities at the conference to benefit from the contemporary leadership training experience.

Andrew Powers, '09 MA-HRIR, Labor Relations Advisor & Payroll Supervisor at Chevron, and chair of the 2013 HR Tomorrow Conference, says sponsors play a large role in the conference.

"Sponsor assistance is an opportunity for the HR Tomorrow Conference to expand its social and professional network in efforts to bring HR professionals together to learn best practices, and continuously add value as the HR function," he says.

The financial support received from sponsors helps provide space for the numerous speakers and attendees, allows the conference to use various sources of advertisement that help gain interest for the conference, and provides refreshments on the day of the conference. Sponsors have also helped attendance growth and have aided in the expansion of diverse speakers.

"Without sponsorship by companies like GE, the HR Tomorrow Conference would not be where it is today," Powers adds.
