Dan Forbes to Present 'Designing Entrepreneurial Teams'

Friday, February 17, 2012

Associate Professor Dan Forbes will present "Designing Entrepreneurial Teams: Evidence from University-Based Startups" Friday, February 24, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in room 123 of the Science Teaching and Student Services Building on the East Bank.

In recent years, management researchers have begun to study entrepreneurial teams. That research has focused on the extent to which teams' structure and composition affect their performance. However, little research has been done regarding how entrepreneurial teams form in the first place. This study focuses on the earliest steps taken toward team formation during the pre-startup stage and asks "How do nascent founders design entrepreneurial teams?" Three cognitive models were identified.

Forbes' study was co-written by Associate Professor Mary Zellmer-Bruhn and Professor Harry Sapienza as well as Patricia Borchert from the University of Minnesota, Duluth.

This event is sponsored by the Center for Integrative Leadership as part of its Friday Leadership Research Forum. A light lunch and drinks will be provided. Registration is requested.
