The Carlson School will host the launching of the Minnesota Chapter of the Italian Scientists and Scholars in North America Foundation (ISSNAF) on Saturday, May 12, in room 1-147. ISSNAF is a nonprofit organization promoting scientific, academic, and technological cooperation among Italian researchers and scholars in North America. Assistant Professor Doriana Ruffino recently joined its board.
The kickoff event will feature guest lectures by Also Rustichini (ISSNAF, University of Minnesota, Scientific Advisory Board for Neurosciences), Gianluigi Veglia, (ISSNAF, University of Minnesota, National Institute of Health) and Giuseppe Lanzino (ISSNAF, Mayo Clinic). ISSNAF President Vito Campese and the Consul General of Italy in Minnesota, Marco Pavoloni, will also attend the event. The program starts at 3:45 p.m. and will be followed by a reception at 6:30 p.m.
"We are proud to announce the launch of a new ISSNAF chapter in Minneapolis," says Campese. "One of our foundation's goals is to support our members in their ambitious challenge to contribute to the economic and scientific development of Italy. In order to achieve this goal it's important to promote contacts and professional interactions amongst Italian researchers working and living in the same area of North America."
