Mentor and Student Mentee of the Year Announced

Wednesday, June 13, 2012

The Carlson School's Undergraduate Mentorship Program paired more than 300 students with a professional in the business community last year to provide them with an opportunity to develop their skills outside of the classroom. To highlight the achievements of these mentor pairs, the program has named its first-ever Mentors of the Year - Matthew Larson of Robert W. Baird & Co. and Riverport Insurance Company's James Ketterson.

"Of the many characteristics that make Matthew a phenomenal mentor, what I enjoy most is his genuine interest in my learning and growth as an individual," says Larson's mentee.

In nominating Ketterson, his mentee stated, "He has continuously reached out to his former colleagues and classmates to introduce me and help me explore different career opportunities in my field of study."

The program's first Student Mentee of the Year was given to Cort Lunke, an MIS major in the class of 2013. According to his mentor, Lunke went above and beyond to take his experience to the next level and applied classroom knowledge and theories during a job shadow program.

More information on becoming a mentor or mentee can be found on the Carlson Mentorship Program webpage.
