California Management Review Honors Wang

Tuesday, June 21, 2011

Assistant Professor Richard Wang recently won the California Management Review's (CMR) 2011 Accenture Award. Wang won for his article, "Tournaments for Ideas," written with Professor John Morgan of the Haas School of Business.

The article outlines how companies can use a tournament of ideas to spur innovation. Wang and Morgan weigh the advantages and disadvantages of various tactics and incentives to encourage the best ideas and outline the methods of designing the tournaments.

The Accenture Award recognizes the article that has made "the most important contribution to improving the practice of management" and was published in the CMR, which is the Haas School's business journal. Morgan and Wang's award was shared with another paper, "Building Sustainable High-Growth Startup Companies: Management Systems as an Accelerator," written by Professor Antonio Davila, IESE Business School, University of Navarro, Spain; Professor George Foster, Stanford University Graduate School of Business; and Assistant Professor Ning Jia, Tsinghua University School of Economics and Management, Beijing.
