Julie Gilbert Newrai to Speak at Aug. 13 '1st Tuesday'

Minnesota Cup winner Julie Gilbert Newrai will speak to the importance of entrepreneurship at the next Carlson School of Management "1st Tuesday Speaker Series" on Aug. 13 at 11:30 a.m. at McNamara Alumni Center.

Gilbert Newrai ('93 BSB, '99 MBA) is the visionary founder and CEO of PreciouStatus, an award-winning mobile technology startup that connects loved ones to those in care facilities and schools. The technology is now deployed in childcare centers, schools, hospitals, eldercare facilities, and more.

Newrai has held roles in organizations that range from startups to Fortune 100 companies. She has driven new business growth of more than $11 billion for organizations like Best Buy and Deloitte. She serves as founding Principal of Wolf Means Business, a firm recognized globally as the "proven standard" in creating revenue growth via innovation and marketing with women consumers in 53 countries.

The seasoned entrepreneur most recently received the 2013 Executive Healthcare TRUST Innovator of the Year Award, among others for her work. She has been profiled in TIME, Harvard Business Review, and more.

Newrai holds an MBA, with high distinction, from the University of Minnesota as well as a bachelor of science degree in accounting, with high distinction, from the University of Minnesota. She is an active CPA in the state of Minnesota.

The Carlson School of Management's "1st Tuesday Speaker Series" began in 1992 to provide an opportunity for alumni and friends of the Carlson School to continue their management education. The series features top-notch executives as keynote speakers addressing hot topics in business and leadership. The event attracts alumni and business leaders from throughout the corporate community and is a popular networking venue.
