Undergraduate Adviser Named President to the Minnesota College Personnel Association

Friday, August 12, 2011

Carlson School undergraduate adviser Tasia Tigue was recently named president to the Minnesota College Personnel Association. The MCPA consists of student affairs professionals and graduate students from across the state of Minnesota. The organization focuses on professional development and networking opportunities, and access to cutting edge research, trends, and ideas from the student affairs field.

Tasia joined the MCPA as a graduate student at the University of St. Thomas, where she participated in their annual local conferences. She was quickly appointed to the position of new professionals co-chair, her first experience serving on the MCPA board. "It was a great experience (new professionals co-chair) and I am thrilled to return to the board," Tasia said. This year, current president Amanda Erdman reached out to Tasia and suggested she run for the role of president-elect.

As President-Elect, Tasia will act in place of the president, oversee the Inclusion Team, coordinate the Inclusion Drive-In workshop, work with the conference committee and co-chairs, and appoint board positions for the following year. This is a three-year commitment, where Tasia will serve as president-elect this year, president next year, and then past president the following year.

"My favorite part of MCPA has to be the people," said Tasia. "It is a great opportunity to reconnect with colleagues across institutions and to meet new people through great professional development opportunities."
