Carlson School Dubbed 'Military Friendly' by G.I. Jobs Magazine

Monday, September 17, 2012

G.I. Jobs magazine has named the Carlson School of Management a "Military Friendly School for 2013." The distinction recognizes schools with a demonstrated strong interest in recruiting and retaining military and veteran students.

The Carlson MBA Program recently retained Charles "Chip" Altman, Commander, U.S. Navy (Ret) to expand its military initiative. In addition to recruiting, Altman, a former associate dean at the Marine Corps War College, will help veterans assimilate back into an academic setting and connect them with the school's strong support networks.

"Inclusion on the 2013 list of Military Friendly Schools ® shows your school's commitment to providing a supportive environment for military students," said Sean Collins, Director for G.I. Jobs and Vice President at Victory Media, the premier media entity for military personnel transitioning into civilian life.

Now in its fourth year, the 2013 list of Military Friendly Schools was compiled through extensive research and a data-driven survey of more than 12,000 VA-approved schools nationwide.

"The Carlson School is committed to supporting the career transitions of military and veterans," said Phil Miller, assistant dean for the MBA Programs and the Graduate Business Career Center. "We believe that through our experiential learning opportunities, intimate class sizes, and dynamic business community we are well positioned to help military professionals explore their interests, translate their experience into the language of business, and achieve excellent placement outcomes."
