John Totushek to Speak at November '1st Tuesday'

John Totushek, Vice Admiral, United States Navy Reserve (Ret.), President and CEO of the United States Navy Memorial Foundation, will present at the next Carlson School of Management "1st Tuesday Speaker Series" on Nov. 5 at 11:30 a.m. at the McNamara Alumni Center.

Totushek served in the the Naval Reserve in numerous capacities for 24 years. In his civilian career, he founded and led a Virginia-based construction firm, then joined a series of construction companies. In 1997, Totushek returned to active duty and assumed a role with the Navy's environmental, safety and occupational health programs. He was then selected as Commander of the Naval Reserve Force, assuming command of 88,000 Naval Reservists and 181 nationwide Reserve facilities valued at $3.1 billion. He later headed up the Public Sector Practice division of The Staubach Company.

Vice Admiral Totushek's awards include the Defense Distinguished Service Medal, Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal and various service and campaign awards.

Totushek holds a BA from the University of Minnesota, which he earned under a Naval ROTC scholarship. He was designated a pilot upon completion of flight training in 1968.

The Carlson School of Management's "1st Tuesday Speaker Series" began in 1992 to provide an opportunity for alumni and friends of the Carlson School to continue their management education. The series features top-notch executives as keynote speakers addressing hot topics in business and leadership. The event attracts alumni and business leaders from throughout the corporate community and is a popular networking venue.
