KiYoung Lee, a PhD student in the Department of Work and Organizations, has been named as the first recipient of the Dare to Care PhD Award, a fellowship fund created by Anne Tsui, '75 MA-IR, to "assist advanced PhD students who have shown dedication to conducting research that will bring value to society, beyond providing good careers for themselves."
Lee's research is focused on understanding how organizational members develop their full potential and achieve success while maintaining their morality and socially bonding with others at work. These include affects and emotions, unethical behaviors, and workplace aggressions.
His dissertation is "When and how does workplace envy promote job performance?" A study on the conditions and mechanisms for the functional role of envy in workplace behavior."
Lee received his B.B.A. summa cum laude from Seoul National University in Seoul, Korea. He is expected to receive his PhD in Human Resources and Industrial Relations from the Carlson School of Management in May 2014.
Among his other accomplishments, he was a finalist in the INFORMS/Organization Science Dissertation Proposal Competition, 2013.
