The Carlson School is located on the University of Minnesota's West Bank Campus, at 321 Nineteenth Avenue South. A skyway connects the building to the 19th Avenue parking ramp.

35W Ramp Exit to East Bank Closure

The ramp from northbound 35W (exit 17C) to East Bank closed June 17 for 2 weeks due to roadwork on the Cedar Avenue ramp from 3rd Street. The 3rd Street eastbound ramp from downtown Minneapolis to Cedar Avenue is also closed.

Access to West Bank, 3rd Street and westbound Washington Avenue are still available. The detour to eastbound Washington Avenue and East Bank utilizes the West Bank exit ramp, past Seven Corners and then back onto Washington Avenue.

However, traffic backups have been substantial. We recommend drivers from northbound 35W continue on eastbound I94 and access East Bank via the Huron Boulevard exit.

Metro Transit users on routes 111, 113, 114, 152, 465, and 652 will experience delays due to the detour. We recommend that riders plan to take an earlier bus if possible.

The best current routes to the Carlson School:

Go east on Washington Avenue, which crosses over 35W and becomes Cedar Avenue at the bend in the road. Turn left on 3rd Street South. The 19th Avenue parking ramp entrance is on your right.

Take 35W south to Hwy 280 south to University Avenue. Travel west to Washington Avenue. Follow this west under the bridge to Cedar Avenue. Go left on Cedar to 3rd Street South. Turn left on 3rd Street South. The 19th Avenue parking ramp entrance is on your right.

Take 35W North to the 3rd Street/U of M West Bank exit. Follow signs for the U of M West Bank. Turn right onto Washington Avenue, which becomes Cedar Avenue at the bend in the road. Turn left on 3rd Street South. The 19th Avenue parking ramp entrance is on your right.

Take 94 West to the Riverside Avenue exit. Turn right on Riverside Avenue and follow it a 1/4-block past 19th Avenue. The 19th Avenue parking ramp entrance is on your right.

Take 94 to the 35W North LEFT exit. On 35W, stay in the right lane and take the 3rd Street/U of M exit (#17C). Follow signs for the U of M West Bank. Turn right on Washington Avenue, which becomes Cedar Avenue at the bend in the road. Turn left on 3rd Street South. The 19th Avenue parking ramp entrance is on your right.

Hourly paid parking is available in the U of M 19th Avenue Ramp, across the street to the west, and in the U of M 21st Avenue Ramp, across the street to the southeast. There are also a number of nearby surface lots.
