The Undergraduate Business Career Center and the Graduate Business Career Center collaborate to coordinate Treks to Chicago, New York, San Francisco, and other national cities to introduce students to valuable networking contacts and provide prospective employers with the opportunity to meet a focused group of Carlson School students.

Chicago Consulting Trek, September 13-14, 2007

Trek is open to SENIORS of any major or Inter-College program students in an approved Carlson School program. Application process begins in early August and approximately 12 undergraduate students and 12 MBA candidates are selected. In past years, we have visited such consulting firms as Bain, Boston Consulting Group, McKinsey, etc. Trek benefits those students interested in full-time positions with a strategic consulting firm.




New York Investment Banking Trek, November 14-16, 2007

Trek is open to JUNIORS of any Carlson School major or Inter-College program students in an approved Carlson School program. Application process begins in mid-September and approximately 12 undergraduate students and 12 MBA candidates are selected. In years past we have visited firms such as Bear Stearns, Citigroup, Goldman Sachs, Houlihan Lokey, Lehman Brother, Merrill Lynch, Morgan Stanley, etc. Trek benefits those students interested in an internship position within the investment banking industry.




Seattle Career Trek, January 14-15, 2008

This Trek is new for 2008, and will be open to any undergraduate in a Carlson School major or Inter-College program students in an approved Carlson School program. Registration will open in November 2007 and targeted companies include Microsoft, Nordstrom, Amazon.com, Starbucks, Boeing, etc. Trek benefits students interested in internship or full-time positions in the Seattle area.




San Francisco Bay Area Career Trek, January 16-18, 2008

Trek is open to any undergraduate in a Carlson School major or Inter-College program students in an approved Carlson School program. Registration will open in November 2007. Companies visited in the past include Google, Yahoo!, Gap, Wells Fargo, Pepsico, Apple, Sun Microsystems, Safeway, etc. Trek benefits those students interested in an internship or full-time position in the San Francisco Bay Area.

This program provides financial assistance to students who conduct job searches (for internships or permanent positions) outside Minnesota. When funds are available, and if you meet the following requirements, you can receive up to a $200 reimbursement once per academic year.

1. The program is open to current Carlson School undergraduates and Inter-College program students. (ICP students must have an approved Carlson School program).
   
2. Complete an interview for an internship or permanent job outside Minnesota. (Informational interviews are not eligible).
   
3. Complete the application form(.doc)
   
4. Submit a photocopy of the interviewer's business card, along with a completed expense reimbursement form with attached itemized receipts of travel and lodging expenses (which can include parking fees, airfare, mileage, and taxi fares).
   
5. Travel expenses include parking fees, plane tickets, mileage, and taxi fares.
   
6. Submit a request for reimbursement to the Undergraduate Business Career Center front desk within 30 days of the receipt dates. We'll notify you if the reimbursement CANNOT be approved. For approved requests, you should receive reimbursements within 6-8 weeks.
