University of Minnesota Expert Available on Advantages and Disadvantages of Political Advertising.
MINNEAPOLIS, MN (7/3/2007) – The election cycle is getting longer, with obvious consequence – more money, time, and in this case, more candidates.
According to Rohini Ahluwalia, Associate Professor of Marketing at the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota, this means extended opportunities for advertising.
“Advertising is an important tool for candidates. Its effectiveness is, however, not always clearly understood by the candidates and their campaign managers. For instance, an important but often misunderstood issue is, when should a candidate go negative and what are the potential downsides of using negative campaigning in your communications strategy?”
