Thailand is a country known for its rich culture, breathtaking temples, delicious cuisine and some of the world's best beaches. It also demonstrates a bustling economy that exports more than $100 billion worth of goods every year and it is an exciting place to see first hand the emergence of a strong economy on a global scale. That Thai culture is a dynamic mix of influences from India and China and you'll see every day how the traditional Buddhist beliefs and practices are incorporated into modern life.

Thammasat Business School is based in the capital of Bangkok, a city of almost 10 million people and among the largest urban populations in the world. It is the economic heart and soul of the country and has long served as a gateway for investment into other, less developed parts of Southeast Asia. Bangkok also boasts an incredible number of cultural and heritage sites which means that you'll never run out of things to see and do.

Thammasat Business School is the second oldest college at Thammasat University which is one of the oldest and most respected institutions of higher learning in Southeast Asia. The business school offers a number of degree programs which ensures exchange students will have access to a number of different courses and students from many different backgrounds from all over the world.

Academics »

You will receive 15 S/N Carlson School International Business (IBUS 5100) credits for your semester at Thammasat Business School. Students ernoll in a total of 5 courses for for 15 credits in order to meet the minimum requirements. One class is the mandatory Thai language course and the remaining four can be made up of business and non-business courses. If you wish to apply these credits toward specific degree requirements, your adviser and International Programs will be able to assist you.

Carlson School students study Thai language and select additional courses in Englosh primarily from within the business school. Courses in the business school are offered in the concentration areas of Accounting, Finance and Marketing. If interested, students are also able to select from courses in the Faculty of Economics and the Faculty of Liberal Arts if they meet the necessary prerequisites.

Housing »

Students will rent apartments near campus with other exchange students and international visitors. Thammasat will offer recommendations on appropriate housing for exchange students and assist during the process.

Financial Aid & Scholarships »

Most financial aid may be applied to study abroad. In addition, University of Minnesota students are eligible for education abroad scholarships. Visit the funding your education abroad for additional information on financial aid and scholarships.

Application & Admission »

Application materials include the online application form, a resume, and essay. Submit a completed application by the February 28th Priority Deadline prior to the academic year in which you wish to participate. Programs that do not fill following the priority deadline will be reviewed on a rolling-admissions basis.

Admission to all programs is based on review of your application by the study abroad selection committee. Applications will be reviewed following the deadline and you will be notified of your status by official letter in April. Once selected, you will be asked to pay a $500 deposit in order to confirm your place in the program.
