July 4 - July 23, 2010 or July 25 - August 13, 2010

Objective:

This program focuses on a variety of international business topics, and offers students the opportunity to study with international students at a top ranked business university in the heart of Central Europe. Wirtschaftsuniversität Wien (Vienna University of Economics & Business Administration) or WU is a leader in preparing students to do business across the globe. Students take courses from international faculty and through group work and in depth discussions they gain exposure to broad perspectives on international topics

Audience »

10 - 15 Carlson undergraduate students; classes will be a mix of students from the United States, Eastern and Western Europe, Latin American, and Asia.

Academic Credit »

4 elective credits. Grading is S-N basis.

Eligibility »

This program is open to Carlson students in good academic standing, with a GPA of 3.0 at the time of application. The application process is competitive, and space is limited.  Meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee acceptance.

Vienna is considered the economic hub between East and West and is a place many international corporations and organizations call home, including Siemens, 3M, IBM, and Panasonic. World famous for its music, art, and culture, Vienna is home to artists and musicians such as Mozart, Beethoven, and Klimt. WU’s International Summer University Program (ISUP) offers a dynamic learning environment focused on providing business students with an international perspective.

Students select the July or the August session, and then from the choices offered in that session, they choose one intensive course, and one enrichment course.  Courses are subject to change.  To download course descriptions visit the WU website.

Housing and Food »

Students are housed in double rooms at residencies within a close distance to the University. All students will have access to kitchen facilities in the residence, and computer labs, dining halls, and other campus amenities that are open at the time of the program. 

Cost Estimate »

Participants pay $3,500 directly to the University of Minneosta.  This fee covers tuition for 4 credits, accommodations, international health insurance, course materials, transportation passes in Vienna, and some meals. The course fee does not cover airfare, meals, personal travel, and expenses. Fees are based on estimates and may change due to international economic factors. Financial Aid can be applied to study abroad programs. 

Financial Aid & Scholarships »

Most financial aid may be applied to study abroad. In addition, University of Minnesota students are eligible for education abroad scholarships. Find out more about scholarships and financial aid.

Application & Admission »


Application materials include the online application form, a resume, and essay. Students will be charged a $50.00 application fee. Application deadline January 30, 2010.

Applications will be reviewed and students will be informed of their status within 4 weeks of the application deadline. Once selected, you will be charged a $500 non-refundable deposit to confirm your place in the program.

Scholarships »

Scholarships are available, and open to all students nominated to this program. Applications will be accepted online in April. Both merit based and financial need based awards are available. Students will be required to submit an essay with their application.
