International Experience Requirement
Beginning with the incoming undergraduate class in fall 2008, the Carlson School of Management announces a new international experience requirement. This is an exciting opportunity for students to develop a global perspective as part of their business education. The Carlson School’s international experience requirement is unique among public business schools and reflects our commitment to preparing students to become authentic global business leaders.
The rapid globalization of business over the past two decades has motivated the Carlson School to take this important step toward the development of our students as global business leaders. As business continues to engage more cultures from all parts of the world, it is essential to develop the skills and knowledge to be successful in this global environment. There is no substitute for the first-hand exposure that’s obtained through an international experience.
We recognize that students come from different backgrounds with different interests. The Carlson School offers a number of options for students to actively participate in an international experience, including a semester abroad, a faculty-led short-term program, and more.

Funding your International Experience
Scholarships are available through the Carlson School's Office of International Programs and the University of Minnesota's Learning Abroad Center. Federal and state financial aid can also be applied toward the cost of education abroad.
