Apply to Graduate—there is a deadline
If you are completing your degree this spring 2009 you must apply to graduate by Tuesday, February 3.

Share your gopher experiences with the class of 2013, be a positive role model, and develop new leadership skills for your resume. This volunteer position involves a small time commitment but has a tremendous impact on the campus community.
Leaders are required to attend only three monthly training sessions during the Spring semester (February 7 or 10, March 7 or 10, and April 28 or May 2), Leader Prep Week (August 28-September 1, 2009) and of course, Welcome Week (September 2-7, 2009).
The 2009 President's Student Leadership and Service Awards

These awards honor the accomplishments of outstanding students and their invaluable contributions of leadership and service to the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities and the community. Undergraduate recipients of the President's Student Leadership and Service Award may also be considered for the Donald R. Zander Award for Outstanding Student Leadership (a $1,000 scholarship given to two recipients) and the University of Minnesota Alumni Association Student Leadership Award (a $500 scholarship given to eight recipients).
All Students Volunteer for College Awareness Day - Wednesday, February 11
A one hour time commitment required for the event and one hour for an information session.

Volunteers will read and discuss I Know I Can, a children’s book that introduces college awareness in a context that young children can understand. You will define college, discuss the benefits, and explain the pathway that students must take to turn their aspirations into a college degree. 2,700 third graders attending Minneapolis public schools will participate in the Minneapolis I Know I Can College Awareness Day. The event will bring over 200 volunteers into classrooms to share the significance of making college attendance an aspiration.

As a Carlson School undergraduate, you can gain access to the secured Student Lounge in L-100 Hanson Hall and the breakout rooms with the new “smart” UCard. The new smart card is distinguishable by the orange numbers located on the upper right corner on the back of the card. If you do not have a smart card, plan on picking it up at Coffman Memorial Union. We will provide access at monthly intervals when you provide your smart card information in the Undergraduate Program office, 2-190 Hanson Hall. Seeking any undergraduate interested in development, marketing, real estate, finance, planning, or architecture to consider joining the University of Minnesota's team for the 2009 NAIOP University Challenge. This challenge pits teams from Midwest colleges to develop the most compelling development scenario for a particular site. This is the first time the University of Minnesota will be putting together a team.
Please email if you are interested but cannot attend the meeting pent0006@umn.edu. We will meet Monday February 2 at 5:30 pm in the Social Science room 460. Each team will evaluate the same development site, pull together their recommendations and present them to a panel of local development experts. Each team will get some seed money for making the necessary packets for the presentation, and have access to local development experts to help with their analysis.

The Mildred Dahl Scholarship Fund of the Minneapolis-St. Paul Chapter of the American Society of Women Accountants (ASWA) providing one or more scholarships to women undergraduate students majoring in accounting attending a Minnesota college and university.
National ASWA Scholarship
Women accounting students also have the opportunity to be sponsored by the Minneapolis-St. Paul Chapter for an additional scholarship through ASWA National.

The R. Gene Richter Scholarship for Supply Chain Students Entering Senior Year

The Institute for Supply Management(TM) (ISM) is pleased to work with the R. Gene and Nancy D. Richter Foundation in the promotion of the R. Gene Richter Scholarship Program. The R. Gene and Nancy D. Richter Foundation in partnership with the ISM R. Gene Richter Scholarship Fund will provide scholarships of up to $5,000 U.S. dollars to individuals seeking education in the area of supply management or supply chain management for the 2009-2010 academic year. Eligible students will be entering their senior year and must be enrolled full time in an accredited supply management or supply chain management program with the intention of specializing in the supply management profession. Scholarship recipients will be chosen based on outstanding academic achievement, high ethical standards, and potential to become a future leader in the procurement field.

This three session career exploration workshop will feature a tour of the Undergraduate Business Career Center, and a discussion of how you can use the Strengths Finder assessment you took, as well as another career assessment you will take, to help you discover possible careers that are right for you. You will also learn strategies, tools and resources for exploring the careers that interest you. Dinner will be served during the workshops. To participate, you must attend all three workshops, be prepared to take an assessment before the first session, and do a little homework between sessions. Space is limited to the first 15 freshmen to sign up on The Edge.
