Student Lounge & Breakout Room Access
As a Carlson School undergraduate, you can gain access to the secured Student Lounge in L-100 Hanson Hall and the breakout rooms with the new “smart” UCard. The new smart card is distinguishable by the orange numbers located on the upper right corner on the back of the card. If you do not have a smart card, plan on picking it up at Coffman Memorial Union. We will provide access at monthly intervals when you provide your smart card information in the Undergraduate Program office, 2-190 Hanson Hall. If you have difficulties with your smart card access, go to UCard Access at carlsonschool.umn.edu/Page4533.aspx and complete the form.

Junior and Senior International Business and Trade Majors- Semester in Washington

The R. Gene Richter Scholarship for Supply Chain Students Entering Senior Year Application Deadline Friday, February 20
The Institute for Supply Management(TM) (ISM) is pleased to work with the R. Gene and Nancy D. Richter Foundation in the promotion of the R. Gene Richter Scholarship Program. The R. Gene and Nancy D. Richter Foundation in partnership with the ISM R. Gene Richter Scholarship Fund will provide scholarships of up to $5,000 U.S. dollars to individuals seeking education in the area of supply management or supply chain management for the 2009-2010 academic year. Eligible students will be entering their senior year and must be enrolled full time in an accredited supply management or supply chain management program with the intention of specializing in the supply management profession. Scholarship recipients will be chosen based on outstanding academic achievement, high ethical standards, and potential to become a future leader in the procurement field.

This three session career exploration workshop will feature a tour of the Undergraduate Business Career Center, and a discussion of how you can use the Strengths Finder assessment, as well as other career assessments you will take, to help you discover possible careers that are right for you. You will also learn tools and resources for exploring the careers that interest you. Dinner will be served during the workshops. Looking for an internship/career outside of the Midwest? Want to travel and learn about global companies? Join us on our 2nd annual New York Marketing Trek! The trip will take place March 11-13 before Spring Break. Over the course of Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, we will be having site visits to roughly 10 companies looking at marketing in the fashion/beauty, media/entertainment and advertising industries. Some of the companies include Coach, L'Oreal, Ralph Lauren, ESPN, MTV, Brand Buzz and RGA. Thursday night will also be a networking event with Carlson School alumni working in New York that will be available to answer any questions you may have about what their jobs are like, what it's like living in New York, etc.
As a student, you will be responsible for making your own travel arrangements and providing for food and lodging. The BCC will cover the Networking event and will be booking rooms for all of the students to stay. PLEASE NOTE: The BCC will not be paying for your hotel room, and you are able to make your own lodging arrangements apart from the group if you prefer, but we will be blocking rooms for all of the students to stay together in one hotel if they choose.
