CAREER

Register for all Graduate Business Career Center events by visiting The Edge website at: http://carlsonschool.umn.edu/TheEdge

Tip of the Week
Many job seekers have online personas that can reveal everything from the admirable to the mundane. Take care to avoid posting information that may come back to haunt you in a job search. Recruiters are increasingly conducting "character checks" by looking up candidates on social networking sites such as Facebook and MySpace. Use sites' privacy controls to ensure that your profile(s) are not open to everyone and keep the mundane to a minimum. The best practice, however, may be to avoid posting questionable data in the first place. When in doubt, do not post anything you are not open to sharing with a prospective employer.
