Relay For Life

This year's Relay For Life will be held on April 17 at 6 p.m. and will continue overnight until 6 a.m. the next day. To sign up to participate in the event, students and members of the community can visit www.uofmrelayforlife.com.

Relay For Life is a non-athletic event that anyone can participate in. Its primary purpose is to raise money for cancer research and American Cancer Society programs. Last year, the Relay raised a record $161,000, and this year's goal is $176,000. Everyone who signs up for the Relay prior to March 13 will receive a free Relay For Life t-shirt. Business Week is the largest Carlson event of the year, and the 49th annual week will include outstanding opportunities to network with companies and celebrate business at the U of M. Events include a case competition sponsored by Accenture, Volleyball and Basketball Tournaments, WIB Date Auction, Etiquette Dinner, Casino Royale Event, Business Day Dinner at McNamara, and free breakfasts and lunches throughout the week. Business Week will take place March 26-April 2nd, but those that register for events before Spring Break will be entered into drawings for numerous prizes during the week, including the chance to skip lines for breakfast and lunches. The Peer Career Coaches are exited to announce they are now accepting resumes via email for review at resume@umn.edu!
 

Resumes will be reviewed within 2-3 business days and comments returned to students electronically. This service is available to current Carlson School students only and students with limited resume building knowledge are still encouraged to come in to speak with a Peer Career Coach.

To find interviewer contact info, go to "My Activity" and click on the "Schedules" tab. Click on the posting you're seeking and scroll down to the "Session". The interviewer's name will be listed there. Next, go to the "Search Contacts" menu item to search for the contact.
 

How far in advance do I have to cancel an interview? You must remove your name from the interview schedule by the end of the interview sign-up period. To cancel the interview after that date passes should an emergency arise, you must contact the Undergraduate Business Career Center at 612-624-0011 as soon as possible. You will be required to write a letter of apology to the company and meet with a BCC counselor before interviewing or using The Edge again if you cancel within 3 days of the interview.

Still working on landing that internship or full time job for the summer? Do you need help getting for your interviews? Mock Interview Sign-up is now available at the UBCC front desk. The interviews will be conducted by a Carlson HRIR Graduate Student. Stop by the UBCC to sign up for a mock interview time slot. Appointments are available throughout the week.


President Obama Launches White House Internship Program
Applications are currently being accepted for the summer of 2009
 

Those selected to participate in the program will gain valuable job experience and an inside look at the life of White House staff while building leadership skills. In addition to normal office duties, interns will supplement their learning experience by attending a weekly lecture series hosted by senior White House staff, help at White House social events, and volunteer in community service projects. The 2009 Summer Internship program runs from May 22 to August 14, and the submission deadline is March 22, 2009.

New January Study Abroad Program in India!
January 2010 - IDSC 3001: Information Systems - An International Perspective!
 

International Programs is excited to announce this new study abroad program which will combine study at the Carlson School during Fall Term B, with two weeks in Delhi and Hyderabad, India. The course introduces students to what a business manager should know about information systems. It is set in the context of India, one the fastest growing emerging markets and a global hub for the outsourcing of IT and IT enabled services.
