All Carlson School Students Leadership Volunteer Opportunity
Application Deadline Monday, April 27

Applications are now available to become a Peer Advisor this summer for the Carlson School Freshman/Transfer Orientation. This is a great opportunity to meet our new incoming class to the Carlson School, help them register for their classes, and provide leadership to our new freshman class. You can pick up an application in Hanson Hall 2-190 at the Front Desk. The application deadline is Monday, April 28th. 2009 State of the County Address
Thursday, April 23, 5:00 p.m. -  Carlson School 3M Auditorium

Hennepin County Commissioner Mike Opat will deliver the address. The speech is free and open to the public and refreshments will be provided afterwards. Sponsored by Hennepin-University Partnership (HUP, which is located at the Center for Urban and Regional Affairs (CURA). The HUP works to make connections between Hennepin County and the University of Minnesota where mutual interest and benefit can be found and is housed in Humphrey.
 

The Music and Entertainment Business Organization
Battle of the Bands Saturday, April 25

The Music and Entertainment Business Organization at the University of Minnesota would like to present a state wide battle of the bands on April 25th on the Spring Jam stage in Riverbend Plaza. Bands have been announced and they include The New Music Machine, Fossils for the Future, Alternate Incident, Alex “Good” Knight, Sam Tornio, Wade Underwood and The Experience, and The Real McCoys. Justice Jam Fest
Monday, April 27 -  Saturday, May 2

Justice Jam is a outdoor music festival that is a celebration at the end of a week-long series of student group coalition events called Actifest, April 27 - May 2. It will be taking place in Minneapolis’ East River Flats Park below Coffman, in-between East River Road and the Mississippi River on May 2. Music will start around 4:00 p.m. Headliners are to be announced.


5th Annual Multicultural Celebration
Saturday, May 9, 1:00 p.m. - Ted Mann Concert Hall.

The Carlson School supports the 5th Annual Multicultural Celebration to honor U of M graduates, sponsored by the University's Office for Equity and Diversity and the Student Excellence in Academics and Multiculturalism (SEAM). The event will take place Saturday, May 9 at 1:00 pm at Ted Mann Concert Hall. MN CPCU Scholarships for Insurance and Risk Management Majors

The Minnesota Chapter of CPCU Scholarship Foundation will be selecting recipients for the Educational Scholarships for 2009. Three awards of $2000 each will be awarded this year.  Students in insurance and risk management or related fields are eligible to apply. Business Career Center Now Hiring for Company Information Session Ambassadors!

The Business Career Center is hiring Company Information Session Ambassadors for the 2009-2010 academic year. Serving as an Information Session Ambassador is a great opportunity to connect with corporate recruiters, while positively representing the Carlson School!

As an information session ambassador, your goal is to ensure that information sessions run smoothly by greeting the company representatives, helping them set up their presentation, and assisting with clean-up. Hours are flexible and include lunchtime and evening hours. This position will require 6-10 hours per week. All students are welcome to apply via external job posting #71108 on The Edge ASAP!

A new organization is coming to Carlson School that will focus on the non-profit, government, and social responsibility industry. January 2010 - IDSC 3001 Information Systems - An International Perspective!

International Programs is excited to announce this new study abroad program which will combine study at the Carlson School during Fall Term B, with two weeks in Delhi and Hyderabad, India. The course introduces students to what a business manager should know about information systems. It is set in the context of India, one the fastest growing emerging markets and a global hub for the outsourcing of IT and IT enabled services. The 4th Annual SCOC Case Competition
Friday, April 24,  8:45 - 2:00 p.m. - Carlson School 1-132

Competing teams of four are required to have a minimum of one Supply Chain Management, Operations Management or Supply Chain and Operations combined major participating. The maximum number of teams accepted will be 12 on a first come, first serve basis. Case subject is titled: "Quality Improvement and Process Excellence in the Supply Chain." Cash prizes per team are as follows: 1st Place ($4,000), 2nd Place ($2,000), 3rd Place ($1,000) and 4th Place ($500).
