Military Veterans

Why an MBA Degree?

Military veterans have the distinct advantage of possessing the skills and determination necessary to succeed in the business world: you’ve bravely led others, overcome challenges, and honed organizational, problem-solving, and time-management skills. By pursuing an MBA degree, you’ll learn how to translate those skills to the business world for success in your civilian career.

The Carlson School's Unique Support for Veterans

Military veterans are fully supported by dedicated Carlson School and University of Minnesota personnel to help facilitate entry into, and success during and after, the Carlson MBA Program.

It is our mission to:

  • help veterans assimilate back into an academic setting
  • provide financial support or guidance
  • provide a strong support network
  • translate acquired military skills into the practice of business

The Carlson School offers three MBA programs. Find out which one is best for you.

Full-Time MBA: Ideal if you have recently exited the military or are seeking a significant career change. This 2-year program is immersive and offers real work experiences to help you acquire high-level business acumen, along with an intense global experience, to help transform your career.

Part-Time MBA: Ideal if you are seeking a flexible program that allows you to maintain your current employment. This program offers classes in the evening and on Saturdays and provides you with ample hands-on learning opportunities and global experiences to enhance or accelerate your professional career. Average program completion time is 3 - 3 1/2 years.

Executive MBA: For seasoned professionals with an average of 14 years of experience. It is an 18-month exploration of business principles with a global emphasis.

All Carlson MBA candidates will have access to financial aid, G.I. Bill eligibility guidance, and various student loan options. Since Full-Time MBA candidates do not maintain employment during their two-year program of study, they will be eligible for significant financial support, cost of living stipends, and scholarships.
