Monday, November 6, 2017

Information and Decision Sciences Assistant Professor Gordon Burtch is a recipient of the 2017 INFORMS ISS Sandra A. Slaughter Early Career Award. The award recognizes and honors early career individuals who are on a path toward making outstanding intellectual contributions to the information systems discipline.

Those eligible for the award must have received their doctorate no more than eight years prior and must not be full professors. Burtch’s research interests lie in the areas of crowdfunding, crowdsourcing, social media, and word of mouth. His work relies primarily on econometrics and randomized field experiments.

Burtch received the early career award at the INFORMS annual meeting, which took place October 22 to 25 in Houston, Texas. At the same meeting, he also was named an associate editor of the INFORMS publication Information Systems Research. His three-year term is set to begin in January.Â
